 Adjectives (kata sifat) 

adalah kata yang digunakan untuk mendeskripsikan atau memberikan keterangan lebih lanjut dari nouns (kata benda) dan pronouns (kata ganti).

2. Color of things

3. Quality

4. Substances (What things are made of)

5. Origin

a Spanish flag

a Korean boy group

an Australian kangoroo

an Indonesian culture

an American actor


B. The Order of Adjective

Penyusunan adjective, apabila dalam satu kalimat terdapat lebih dari satu kata adjective.

Size - Quality - Color - Origin - Substance

ex :  - a big brown Australian kangoroo

            ( size - color - origin )

        - delicious Indonesian food

            ( quality - origin )

        - a tall handsome Spanish boy

            ( size - quality - origin )


C. Adjective Endings

1. Ous = Dangerous, famous, humurous, marvelous, poisonous

2. Less = Homeless, useless, fearless, meaningless, harmless

3. Able = Comfortable, valuable, suitable, likeable

4. Ful = Beautiful, cheerful, joyful, wonderful, playful

5. Ish = Childish, foolish, selfish

6. Al = Psychological, national, electrical, magical, medical


D. Adjective Comparison

Untuk membandingkan dua atau lebih orang atau benda.

Note : Lebih dari 2 kata menggunakan more atau most untuk membandingkan.

  NOUN PHRASE A. Definisi   Noun Phrase adalah sekelompok kata yang memiliki kepala kata benda.  Noun head dimodifikasi dengan: kata sifat, kata keterangan, kata benda, gerund, partisip, frase kata sifat, frase infinitif, frase partisip, frase preposisi, dan klausa kata sifat.  Modifiers tersebut dapat digabungkan untuk membuat frasa kata benda yang lebih kompleks, modifiera dapat berada sebelum noun head atau setelahnya. Noun Phrase tidak bisa dimulai dengan preposi. Noun Phrase dapat dibentuk oleh pola-pola berikut. B. Single Pre-Modifier 1. Adjective + Noun Pengubah kata sifat berada sebelum head.   Adjective phrase A. Definisi Adjective phrase adalah sekelompok kata yang memiliki kepala kata sifat. Frasa ini biasanya dimodifikasi dengan kata sifat atau kata keterangan. Modifier atau pengubah bisa sebelum atau sesudah adjective head. Dalam hal pola kalimat frasa ini biasanya berfungsi sebagai pelengkap predikat. B. Macam-macam Adjective Phrase    Adjective phrase dapat dibentuk oleh pola-pola berikut : 1. Subject + Verb + Adjective phrase (Adjective + Adjective) Examples: 1) The hair is light brown. 2) The eyes are dark blue. 2. Subject + Verb + Adjective Phrase (Adverb + Adjective) Examples: 1) The car is truly expensive. 2) The problem are completely complex. 3. Subject + Verb Adjectiee Phrase (Adjective + Adverb) Examples: 1) The house looks big enough. 2) The man feels good enough. Lebih lanjut, Adjective phrase dapat dibentuk dengan participle. Bentuk seperti ini digunakan untuk membuat kalimat efektif dari klausa menjadi frasa.
